Jewish Life publishes people who know their subject from the inside: reporters, rabbis and educators, founders, students, community leaders, and readers with a story only they can tell.
What we are looking for
Original reporting, first-hand accounts and informed analysis across our sections: Israel, Politics, Business, Lifestyle, Celebrity, Community and Advocacy.
We want writers with a point of view and the facts to back it. A personal essay is welcome when it is labeled as one, and news has to show where it comes from.
The ground rules
- The piece is exclusive to Jewish Life and has not been published anywhere else, including your own blog or newsletter.
- If you have already pitched it to another outlet, tell us.
- Every factual claim links to its source, and opinion is written and labeled as opinion.
- If you have a financial or professional interest in what you are writing about, say so in the pitch.
What a good pitch includes
- A clear, specific headline as the subject line. Put TIMELY in front of it if it cannot wait.
- Two or three sentences on the story and why it matters now.
- Why you are the right person to write it: your experience, access or expertise.
- How the piece opens and where it ends up. If you have a draft, paste it into the email.
- A short bio and links to two or three things you have written before, if you have them.
Where to send it
Email your pitch to editor@jewishlife.net. An editor reads every one, and if the piece is a fit we will be in touch to plan it with you.
Contributors we publish regularly get their own byline page and an account to review their pieces before they go live.
